12th Sunday after Pentecost/Proper 16

10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist II

Come join us for worship and welcome the Rev. James Stambaugh to our church family!

We are honored to have with us also the Rt. Rev. Daniel. G.P. Gutierrez serving as celebrant.

This Sunday will  be a joyful day of celebration. Not only is it the Lord’s Day, but it also is the day we welcome into our parish family the Rev. James Stambaugh, our new Deacon-in-Charge, who will become our new Rector in December after his ordination to the priesthood — and we welcome also the Rt. Rev. Daniel Gutierrez, our Bishop, who is our guest celebrant in this morning’s service. This is indeed a day of great blessing!

Name tags are available in the narthex and also on the table across from the rector’s office. On Sundays please wear one with your name so that our new rector can begin to become better acquainted with you.

Summer Refreshments on the Lawn: served after the service each Sunday, weather permitting.

Childcare for youngest children during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning service continues, held in the Memorial Room over the summer.

Deborah Stambaugh, James’s wife, and their two children, Edmund (6) and Eleanor (4), will be joining him here the week of September 3rd.  We look forward to welcoming them to Holy Apostles!

The Rev. Stambaugh is reading Morning Prayer each morning this week at 8:00 a.m. and on Thursday the 24th, the Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle, he also will be reading Evening Prayer in Commemoration of St. Bartholomew at 6:00 p.m. in the church.

Beginning next week, Morning Prayer will continue in the church Tuesday through Friday at 8:00 a.m.

Happy Hour: Fellowship and Fun this Friday, August 25th, at 6:00 p.m. Bring a friend, a favorite beverage, and/or an appetizer.  On the lawn, weather permitting.

University of Pennsylvania’s  Quaker Career Wardrobe is seeking donations of new or gently used business attire and accessories for Penn students who otherwise cannot afford to purchase interview clothing to help jump-start their careers: contemporary men’s and women’s suits, suit separates, and business-appropriate dresses, shoes ties, collared shirts, and accessories such as purses and  jewelry (appropriate for ages 18-22). Donations may be left outside the parish office until September 3rd.

SUNDAE SUNDAY will take place on September 10th, after the 10:00 a.m. service, outdoors, weather permitting. To celebrate the start of the Sunday School year, we will have an Ice Cream Party for all our children, their families, and all parishioners and guests to enjoy.

Save the Date: Tuesday, September 19th/Next Darby Mission Meal.

The parish directory is being updated. You will receive an email asking about your current contact information. Please also include cell phone numbers when responding.

The parish office will be open next week on Monday, August 28th, and Tuesday, August 29th.

Reminder: The “Little Friends” Preschool, our renter and partner, requests that church members enter the building via the “Parish Office” entrance (opposite the offices). Please be sure to re-lock the door as it doesn’t lock automatically. These are safety precautions necessary for the daycare children and their caregivers.
