11th Sunday after Pentecost/Proper 15

10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite II

This Sunday the celebrant for our 10:00 Holy Eucharist service is The Rev. Dr. Thomas Eoyang, Jr.

Summer Refreshments on the Lawn are served after the service today, weather permitting.

Childcare for youngest children during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning service continues, held in the Memorial Room over the summer. Elizabeth Helminska is our new caregiver on Sunday mornings. Elizabeth graduated from Antioch College in June.

The Vestry is proud to announce that our Deacon-in-Charge, the Rev.  James Stambaugh, will preside at his first service at Holy Apostles next Sunday, August 27th, at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Daniel Gutierrez present to celebrate the Eucharist.  We are honored to have the bishop with us that day and excited to welcome James to our Holy Apostles family. Please plan to be present at this joyful occasion!

Currently a transitional deacon, the Rev.  Stambaugh was called by our parish to be our next rector. He will be ordained to the priesthood in December, after which his official title will change from Deacon-in-Charge to Rector. His family will be joining him here the week of September 3rd.  We look forward to welcoming James and his family to Holy Apostles!

James Stambaugh will be in his Holy Apostles office beginning Monday, August 21st.  He will be reading Morning Prayer Monday through Friday this week at 8:00 a.m. in the church, and on Thursday the 24th, the Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle, he also will be reading Evening Prayer in Commemoration of St. Bartholomew at 6:00 p.m.  St. Bartholomew is one of the patrons of the Church of the Holy Apostles. These services will last approximately 20-25 minutes, and everyone is welcome.

Happy Hour: Fellowship and Fun this Friday, August 25th, at 6:00 p.m. Bring a friend, a favorite beverage, and/or an appetizer.  On the lawn, weather permitting.

SUNDAE SUNDAY will take place on September 10th, after the 10:00 a.m. service, outdoors, weather permitting. To celebrate the start of the Sunday School year, we will have an Ice Cream Party for all our children, their families, and all parishioners and guests to enjoy.

Save the Date: Tuesday, September 19th/Next Darby Mission Meal

The parish office will be open next week on Monday, August 21st, Tuesday, August 22nd, and Wednesday, August 23rd.

Reminder: The “Little Friends” Preschool, our renter and partner, requests that church members enter the building via the “Parish Office” entrance (opposite the offices). Please be sure to re-lock the door as it doesn’t lock automatically. These safety precautions are necessary for the Preschool children and their caregivers.
