November 6th—All-parish Conversation
Follows 10:00 a.m. service in Parish Hall. Come give input on our discussion of Discernment Process, parish leadership, history, and our Stewardship season.
Hello Sunday School Parents! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner. Stores are beginning to sell decorations and there may have even been some carols playing! That being said, we would like to start thinking about our Christmas Pageant. Some important dates to keep in mind:
November 20th: We will discuss the roles with the kids in Sunday School and they will indicate their top three (3) choices
November 27th: Pageant roles will be assigned
December 17th: Saturday morning practice, 10:00 a.m.
December 18th: Pageant
We will practice during Sunday School, so please plan to have your child attend service the weeks up to the Pageant. It would be fantastic if some of the older junior high and high school students will consider contributing their creative talent and energy to the Pageant. We would love their involvement! Looking forward to a blessed holiday season! Susanne, Nancy and Michelle
Turkey Trot-November 24th. Start your Thanksgiving with a 5K run or 1 mile walk. This annual event is held by the Smyth family in memory of Matt Smyth who died in 2010 of testicular cancer at the age of 23. The money raised goes to the Abramson Cancer Center (the Matt Smyth Fund). The fee is $20 or $10 for participants under 12. The Smyth family organized this event to raise money and also remind men to regularly check themselves.
The race/walk begins at 9 am in front of St. Faith Church. Checks are made payable to Abramson Cancer Center-in the memo put The Matt Smyth Fund.
Advent Bible Study. Our 1st Sunday in Advent, November 27th through Advent of December 18th, we test a new 8:30 a.m. offering—an informal Bible Study (with coffee!) in the Memorial Room. Come try the spiritual practice of studying scripture. Led by Pastor Barbara. No previous biblical study necessary! No homework! Just bring your Bible.
From the Property Committee. Little Friends Daycare and Learning Center, located in Holy Apostles, is booming! Due to capacity issues, they recently expanded adding a couple classrooms in the Parish Hall. Monday through Friday, dividers and cubbies will be used to create these rooms. All dividers and supplies will be housed in the “east room” of the parish hall on the weekends. The property committee and vestry approved the change in the lease with a significant increase in rental, beginning October 1. This agreement is being done on a trial basis and will be reviewed in May. Use of the Parish Hall is available during the week for special events such as receptions. If needed please contact Bonnie in the church office.
